If ever you were going to bet a 40-1 underdog, now is the time. In many viewer's eyes SEAN SULLIVAN beat Anthony Mundine when they fought. Sullivan is a tough guy. Danny Green's chin still hasn't been tested. I laid 1 unit on Sullivan for 20/1 at WSEX and another unit on the UNDER to cover my back. I don't see this puppy going the distance.

Can't wait until tomorrow. The closing time is tonight.

Who thought Sullivan beat Mundine??

Also, just a few years ago Sullivan was fighting at 147. If someone was going to test Green's chin this is not the guy.

DANNY GREEN will meet a prominent fight promoter in New York next week to discuss TV fight contracts in America expected to reap the hard-hitting WA boxer millions of dollars.

Green and his trainer Jeff Fenech will negotiate with Lou DiBella, the former HBO television senior vice-president.

DiBella predicted yesterday that within a year, Green, 31, could become one of the most recognisable faces in world boxing.

"I am looking forward to meeting Danny Green and Jeff Fenech after the Perth fight," DiBella said.

"I believe we can all work together. I am convinced that Danny can become a big attraction in America.

"He is one of the most exiting fighters, style-wise, in the world right now."

DiBella said he was extremely impressed with Green's sixth-round stoppage of Canadian Eric Lucas to win the World Boxing Council's interim super-middleweight title last December in Montreal.

"Danny simply outclassed Lucas," DiBella said. "Even Roy Jones didn't dominate against Lucas like that."

With a number of the biggest names in world boxing, such as Oscar de la Hoya, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, nearing retirement and the recent retirement of heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, the two major US television networks, HBO and Showtime, are seeking to sign up new talented fighters.

"I have seen interviews of Danny Green and believe he is a nice fellow. He is incredibly promotable," DiBella said.

"He is good looking and never avoids anybody in the ring. He will be tremendous on television."

DiBella said he might also attempt, in the next 12-18 months, to promote a fight between Green and arch rival Anthony Mundine in the US. "That will be a huge fight," DiBella said.

"But it is just not for Australian boxing, as it has tremendous potential for world boxing."

Meanwhile, Green's attention yesterday was on his fight against New Zealand light-heavyweight champion Sean Sullivan at Challenge Stadium on Sunday.

Green said the contest was the most important fight of his career.

"If I don't win on Sunday there won't be any more world title fights for me," he said. "I believe that I have the edge in power and speed."

Green acknowledge Sullivan was extremely tough and durable.

"I have trained to fight 10 rounds," Green said.

"He knows how to avoid the power punchers."

Sullivan said he was physically and mentally better prepared than when he went 12 rounds with Mundine 14 months ago.

"I appreciate Danny giving me the opportunity, because a win would give me the opportunity of world honours," Sullivan said.

"Danny is a great fighter who doesn't avoid anybody."

The program starts at 2pm and the main bout at 5pm.

Sullivan who gave WBA 168 pound champion Anthony Mundine one of his toughest fights in dropping a decision former rugby league football star in Auckland, New Zealand in 2003. "Sean Sullivan gave Anthony Mundine a hell of a scare," said Green. "Anthony was under prepared for that fight - he took the fight to easy. He didn't think Sullivan posed much of a threat and he came unstuck and embarrassed in that fight. I've learnt from Anthony's mistake. Sean Sullivan has got a ton of courage and is a proud and hungry fighter - he is not afraid of anyone and he's not afraid of me or my power."

Green can't stop Sullivan!
By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing
WBC super middleweight interim champion Danny Green (18-1) won every round but was taken the full ten round distance by Sean Sullivan (51-15) of New Zealand tonight in non title contest at the Challenge Stadium, Perth, Australia. Green, who had 17 kayoes amongst his 18 previous victories, attacked Sullivan from the opening bell scoring consistently in all the ten rounds with power shots to the head and body of his opponent but at no stage in the bout did the rugged Kiwi boxer look in danger of being stopped. Scores were 100-90, 100-89 and 100-88. In other action, Ben Cruz (7-0) won the PABA interim lightweight title with a clear points decision over Untung Ortega (28-6) and world rated flyweight Hussein Hussein (24-1) scored a second round stoppage win over Dedek Chandra (19-4). 'Sullivan is a very tough guy. Green won every round easily but tried to KO him with every punch of the fight,I would love to see the punch stats as i think that Green would have easily thrown 4 times as many punches and landed 4 times as many as well. It was 41 degrees here today and i was sweating sitting in the crowd so i think he was dehydrated by the heat . Sullivan was hurt a few times but to his credit he kept coming back for more, The last 3 rounds his trainer had the towel in his hands but never threw it in.
At the end of the day it is good for him to go the distance and fight in the heat like that as it will only help him in the future.'

Danny Green HATES Mundine, what do you expect him to say?? Even he didn't say he thought Mundine lost. Just that he had a harder time than he should. Mundine won 8-9 rounds on all the scorecards and all the Aussies I know on the boxing forums (a lot), thought Mundine won.

sullivan has a mother of a chin....but,he`s not gonna have much of a chance vs a very big and strong super middle like green....he`s basically a guy that came up several weight classes....he`s a trial horse....a good guy to give world class fighters some rounds...the guy`s 35 years old and has 67 fights...

if he fought in the u.s.,that record would be a little different...

I'm really interested in seeing this guy. I've heard alot about him. Maybe he could come over here and fight the Sandman, Echols (who I still cant believe lost to Mundine), or Lacy (if his handlers will ever let him fight anyone with a pulse). I see this guy is the co champion along with Markus Beyer for the WBC belt. Thats a joke being that he hasnt fought anybody. Anyway, I would like to get a look at him.

Green hospitalized after win!
By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing
WBC interim super middleweight champion Danny Green was admitted to the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for observation after pounding out a one-sided win over Sean Sullivan Sunday night. Green was suffering from heat exhaustion and collapsed in his dressing room after the fight. Sullivan who went twelve rounds with Anthony Mundine in 2003 stated after the fight he could not pick a winner if Green and Mundine eventually clash in what would be the biggest domestic battle in Australia's boxing history. "Green and Mundine is a hard one to pick - I would give it to the best man on the night," he said. Three-time world champion Jeff Fenech and Danny Green are scheduled to depart for the USA on Tuesday for talks with promoter Lou DiBella.
